Learn Affiliate Marketing For Free in 2020

If you’d like to learn affiliate marketing in 2020, you don’t need a huge budget to get started. In fact, you can learn affiliate marketing for free, but if you do want to see results sooner rather than later, you may need to invest in yourself (and in some tools) at some point.

But if you are not sure yet if affiliate marketing is for you and want to try things out; or you don’t have spare money to invest in dubious training courses, a free affiliate marketing course would definitely help you make the decision on whether to pursue affiliate marketing, or to keep exploring other ways of making money online.

Affiliate marketing is probably the easiest and most beginner-friendly online business to start. It needs little to no investment, the risk is minimal and the rewards can exceed any expectations. I’ve had a look at the best free affiliate marketing courses last year, now let’s have a look where can you learn affiliate marketing for free in 2020?

Free Affiliate Marketing Courses and Resources in 2020

While you can learn affiliate marketing by yourself, it is a long process. There is a lot of new information to take in, as well as the technical side of setting up a website, creating content, keyword research, paid ads, email marketing etc. It can be very overwhelming for beginners, in fact, a lot of people quit well before they have understood how affiliate marketing works, how they could earn money with it, and what it takes to become a full-time affiliate marketer.

Free courses are not easy to come by. Free affiliate marketing training courses that are DECENT and GIVE VALUEABLE KNOWLEDGE are really scarce. (Not to mention the loads of scammy products and so-called training courses that charge you hundreds of dollars for nothing…)

However, there are a few out there that helped me a lot BEFORE I decided to take a leap, and have been really helpful even to this day. I have also added a few, that have proven really useful as I progressed.

Like in the my post about the best free affiliate marketing courses and resources for 2019, I have covered 6 courses in this post. Let’s see then, where can you learn affiliate marketing for free in 2020. (click on the link to jump to the section);

Almost every major affiliate marketing platform have an affiliate marketing training course. They focus on different aspects of affiliate marketing and can demonstrate the know-how in detail. Try them if you’d like to learn affiliate marketing, some are for free, but don’t be surprised if you feel that your head is spinning around after a few lessons. At the beginning there is just too much information…

Pay attention to the ones that actually give value TO YOU, rather then asking something FROM YOU (ie. buy something). Implement what you learn and judge the training by the results it brings to you, not by the results it promises to bring.

Wealthy Affiliate

The 10-lesson FREE course provides you with a very solid foundation for any online business, and the training is heavily geared towards taking action and implementing what you learn. Actually, by the end of the 10^th lesson, you will have a website for free with a few posts – SEO optimized for long-tail (low competition) keywords – already posted.

You can use the free templates to fill up your site with content that has high potential to rank –> bring people to your website –> earn you money.

The lessons are structured in an easy-to-understand way, so you can literally start taking it all in without any pre-existing knowledge.

There’s a video for each lesson (but text is available too), and there are 2-5 actionable steps you can complete before going onto the next lesson. You can sit through the whole course in one go and then go back, or accurately implement everything before you taking the next one, it’s up to you.

You can ask questions – you are actually encouraged to ask questions and post as much as you can / like: WA has a very friendly and lively community of affiliate marketers from beginners (like you) to really experienced ones who are happy to help.

WA is also very good at teaching the basics of SEO and keyword analysis. It has a plethora of other training courses on Affiliate Marketing, E-commerce, WordPress, Youtube, Pinterest, and there are weekly live webinars to always stay up-to-date with latest trends in online marketing.

On top of being a training- and social platform, WA provides cheap and fast hosting. The free package includes two websites with no ads, a keyword tool with limited usage and access to the 10 lessons of the basic course.

The free membership has no time limit, but sadly, the you can only enjoy full access to the training library for a limited time. The monthly subscription fee can vary between $19-$40 a month depending on payment frequency, but for that money you get much more:

AffiloRama

AffiloRama is very interesting in the way they constantly change their product range. Even if you don’t find anything useful today, you may easily find something tomorrow that has been made freely available, giving you hundreds of dollars discount. As of today (early 2020), the training material and the resources that are freely available are just mindblowing. (Having said that, I was not that impressed by their current training courses in terms of value for money…full review here: AffiloRama Review 2020)

Blueprint

Firstly, there is the Affiliate Marketing Blueprint. Prime example of the constantly changing product range. I few months back the Blueprint was a paid-for product ($47 if I remember correctly). Mark Ling, founder of AffiloRama has decided to turn it into an e-book and give it away as a freebie. Very nice of him!

The Blueprint is packed of useful, valuable information, but to be honest – similarly to everything in this niche – you will only be able to fully appreciate it if you implement those techniques, tips and tricks and see the results for yourself.

Right now, you can get the AffiloRama Blueprint if you register a free account. The download link is sent via email.

Quick-start Guide to Affiliate Marketing

Even if there was no Blueprint, this 32-page e-book in itself would make it worthwhile registering to AffiloRama. Its super-informative, easy to understand and tells you everything you need to know about affiliate marketing.

As it is an e-book, it obviously has its limitations in terms of how easy it is to apply what you learn. Although, even if you already know most of the stuff about affiliate marketing that this book details, you may find a few helpful tips and tricks on how to actually start affiliate marketing, rather than just reading about it.

I honestly think that others would sell an e-book like this for $15-$20 on Amazon, because it is such a professional piece of work.

Along with the other resources I recommend under Resources and in this article, it is a golden piece of content that really helps get the ball rolling if you are on a budget and have little to invest apart from your time and brainpower.

AffiloRama blog / videos (free information on affiliate marketing)

Some of the articles are quite useful, but there are a lot, that – sadly – are very outdated. I did not go through all the free articles, and most of them are ‘evergreen’…but a proper overhaul of the information shared on AffiloRama really can’t wait any longer.

Just one example: ‘Latest SEO techniques’ was written in 2014. Although keywords are still keywords, and competition is still competition, but SEO has changed a lot since 2014. (Think about the importance of E-A-T – Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness – the principle of all SEO nowadays.)

In that regard, the free information and training available at Wealthy Affiliate is much more valuable and up-to-date, despite that WA’s training library has some older, less relevant content as well.

But the sheer amount of information (more than 100 videos, wow…) is just mindblowing and really speaks for itself. AffiloRama is really what’s on the tin and it goes over and beyond in making you start affiliate marketing with as much advantage as possible.

AffiloTools

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention AffiloTools.

A limited version of AffiloTools comes free with your membership (you basically need an email address to register with).

Its a keyword tool-meets-analytics, meaning that it automatically tracks your rankings in greater depth and in more search engines. It makes it easier to see results of SEO efforts, so if you are constantly analysing Search Console then it is a great tool to get real insight of ongoing changes in terms of rankings, popularity, impressions, competition, location.

If you find it somewhat difficult or complicated to dig deep into your data with Google Analytics and Search Console, AffiloTools has it all-in-one.

If that’s not enough;

• You can connect your FaceBook and Twitter accounts, to track social media outreach
• You can connect you ClickBank account, so you can track your affiliate sales (at least the ones through ClickBank)

JV Zoo Academy

Still one of my favorites. The free course gives you a good insight on how to promote affiliate products on JV Zoo. It’s a bit limited in terms of how much of the knowledge you can utilize elsewhere, but if the products on JV Zoo fit your niche (You don’t have a niche yet? – check out how to take it from the faintest idea to a full-blown research in half an hour), then it is a valuable course you should not miss. They do try to upsell to the Masterclass (that I haven’t tried), but you don’t have to buy it to keep your access to the free material.

There are plenty of videos that are easy to understand, but as with anything that you learn they will make much more sense once you start taking action.

Amazon Affiliates Resource Centre

The Amazon Affiliate program is perfect for beginners, however it helps if you already have a bit of traffic before you join.

The Resource Centre on the other hand is available to anyone, you don’t have to join the affiliate program to browse really interesting and helpful articles, videos, tutorials. It does help, if you already have a website and you can try the different techniques straight away, but anyways, it gives a good insight of how you can promote products listed on Amazon. Or at least, how Amazon would like you to promote their products on your website.

Although I said the affiliate program is perfect for beginners (because it is easy to use and implement it across your website), there are a lot of requirements that you need to be aware of if you don’t want to find yourself kicked out of the program too soon. Here are the 10 most common reasons for Amazon ban affiliate marketers

There are two versions of Amazon’s education program, one on the US site, one on the EU site. The latter seems a bit more up-to-date to me, not sure why that is.

Miles Beckler – MilesBeckler.com

Someone who does not want to pose as a guru, despite having built a million dollar business over a decade. Starting from scratch, he does have a lot of insight on how the affiliate marketing industry has changed; and he is willing to share his views, ideas and experience. He publishes videos on YouTube every other day on average. His videos are often longer than an hour, so you must sit down and take notes otherwise you lose track, but those videos literally worth gold.

However, he has a strange way of speaking (speaks very fast, to the point), so you must listen very carefully if you don’t want to miss a valuable piece of information. I must admit I often phase out for seconds, but nevertheless, his channel of over 500 videos is worth checking out.

I have gone through his free affiliate marketing course that you can subscribe to on his website. There are quite a few good ideas that you can take home from that, but I felt that his training sends across a different message to what he is talking about in his videos.

Income School

Jim and Ricky have built several niche sites over the years, and they are very open and honest about the mistakes they have made, and on the good things as well. They have a lot of videos so it may take a while till you go through all of them. They have brilliant stuff on SEO, content creating, and they put you in the right set of mind in terms of expectations. They are honest about the fact that you need 24 months to see significant results, but this message is very encouraging at the same time.

They say that if you only make $50 after a year of hard work, actually you are right on track to earn $4000 by the end of the 2^nd year. Or something like this. The point is, what they do helps. It helped me keeping on track, so surely it would help you too.

On the other hand, most of the channel is actually promoting their own training course called Project 24. I like the way they pitch Project 24 in their videos: they give value first, and then tell you how P24 would help you taking the next step from there.

Also, they say that they are unique in openly sharing their niche sites. However they are not so honest about how much money it brings in that they actually promote those sites, and a lot of people check them out to see what they talk about in their videos. As one the main form monetisation of those sites is PPC advertising, the extra visitors probably earn them thousands of dollars a month, without risking that anyone dares to compete with them in those niches. Clever, clever…have I said there is a lot to learn from them…

Update: they just announced that they sell ALL their niche websites and start everything from scratch in 2020.They do this to keep up-to-date with the latest trends and to give you first-hand information on what it is like to start a niche website right now, in 2020.

Nevertheless, they are genuine, know what they talk about, and they have a really unique perspective and a method that apparently works.

Honorable Mentions

I do watch other videos of course, but the likes of Neil Patel never really caught my attention. He has some good videos with valuable advice for sure, but to be honest those are not very helpful if you just start your online business and don’t even have a website.

His keyword tool, called Ubersuggest on the other hand is a great resource fro everyone in online marketing. Whenever I have an idea I head to Ubersuggest and Jaaxy to check out how much potential there might be…

Backlinko is another really useful site, especially the skyscraper technique (Backlinko.com, and scroll down a bit). I don’t share Backlinko’s views on the importance of backlinks, but hey, who am I question his expertise. Brian Dean also has a YouTube channel with some really great stuff on SEO that you can check out here.

If You Are Still Looking To Learn Affiliate Marketing in 2020

Just one more piece of advice: don’t even click on the videos / courses that imply you can get rich quick. Most of the time you would only earn money for the person who made that video / course. Be smarter. Do experiment if you have the time. Subscribe to their email list, analyse HOW they are trying to sell you whatever they sell. Observe your feelings: whatever pushes the button for you, would push it for others.

Observe and adapt the techniques that work with your personality and the values you share. It is a lot of work, and it takes time to learn and improve yourself.

However, the ONLY way to build a sustainable online passive income is to learn the skills of building such a business.

There is no shortcut.

You must put in the time and effort to upskill yourself, learn from others, learn from those who have been doing it successfully for long enough by create value.

You must create value. This is a paying forward business.

That’s why I always recommend resources, training courses, anything…that has given value for me, that helped me achieve what I have achieved so far.

They may not work for you. You may not like them, but surely, give them a go because you don’t have anything to lose and you can gain A LOT.
